Loomed portrait
Hello, everybody!
I haven't posted for ages, for almost haven't made anything beaded this year. This is because last autumn I became mum for the fourth time and have been quite busy with all my two girls and two boys.
But in winter I at last started a big bead project - a black-and-white portrait of my best friend Mum portrait. Before it I had used only Czech seed beads in portraits, but there are only one shade of grey Czech beads I can find in Moscow. so I had decided to try Tho bads, though they are much more expensive. I managed to buy 10 shades of black, grey and white and started working. As I almost all the time have my sweet son David in my arms, the work woved slowly. Sometimes my husband helped me and played with the boy, sometimes my older children did.
Sometimes I loomed with the baby on my knees.
And at last the work has been finished and I presented it.
Here is the portrait

What to charge for private lessons?
I was showing some of my beadwork to someone today, and they nearly begged me for lessons and offered to pay for them. I have no idea what to charge. I'll be poking around online for ideas, but if anyone here has an idea, I'd welcome the feedback.

This would just be basic stuff; wire wrapping, knotting, some stitching techniques, so nothing particularly fancy/expensive is required for tools or materials. I have extra tools, and plenty of materials; I'm only trying to figure out what to charge for my time (without factoring in travel or any other expenses).

Game: What is the weirdest looking bead you've bought that you've designed a piece around
Get people looking into their stash and pulling pictures up and posting; Simple rules

Post a reply under this thread; share your story and pic (lj cut) if you have one of the weirdest looking bead.

Voting - respond to the different responses of folks sharing their story.

Vote counting: how many different people respond under a response (you can respond under everyone's response but that sorta defeats the purpose... really think about the responses)

Game closes on 1/20

Winner: I will pull something from my stash and post mail the winner (trust me I have my own personal store in my room)

Must be a bead. Picture even better (under a lj cut)

Happy New Years everyone, lets see if we can get this group back up and running
I know a few of you are still around, and I've started doing shows. One of the challenges I face is I've moved into mixed media and not just beads anymore. Paper craft, fabric craft and bead craft... add splash and there you have it.

How many survived through the last 4 years with your beading?
